Lighting the Christmas Tree

Little N's class was asked to sing at the the City Hall for the lighting of the Christmas tree.  Christmas over in Taiwan is a very commercial holiday.  Little N's school is open on Christmas day, businesses and school are opened on Christmas day.  They used to have a public holiday that was the same day as a Christmas but they removed it as a public holiday so Christmas isn't the same as it is in America where everyone spends time with family and celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Little N's classroom was invited to sing and perform at City Hall.  I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it was actually pretty neat.  We listened to Christmas carols, watched another kindergarten sing some songs, dancers dancing and then Little N's class and another class acting out and singing the Christmas story. It was actually kind of neat to think about that Little N's school was able to share about the best gift that was given to the world - Jesus Christ was born to save us from our sins.  Little N didn't sing or do the motions but he stood up there and did a great job. (Little N is very shy and does not do well when there are a lot of cameras around.)
(We also got to meet the mayor of Hsinchu)
