Merry Christmas

Christmas - Jesus birth and the celebration of God giving up HIS son to save us. I have no idea how God could have his son Jesus come as a helpless baby - to be completely dependent on humans who will fail and make mistakes. Makes me appreciate the sacrifice that God and Jesus did to save us from our sins and HOW MUCH he loves us!! We celebrated our Christmas Day with John's folks. It was a very low key but all about starting new traditions. We woke up around 9 am (well Little M woke up at 7 to eat but then we snuggled and went to bed) we all took showers, then John and I drove around town to see how bad the weather was (oh wait - did you know that where we live is in a storm watch and no travel is advised? Well we have a snow and wind advisory going on) - I felt like my Dad driving around in the snow and just seeing how things were outside. We got home and we decided to open presents and our stockings. Little N got some great presents - socks, shoes, tricycle, fruit snacks, balls, etc. Little M didn't get many presents - gas drops, pacifers, & a crib toy. We had a good Christmas I've decided one of the traditions I want to start with the boys is matching PJ's and matching outfits on Christmas. I also like reading the Christmas story and just spending time with family. Merry Christmas - we hope that you enjoyed celebrating the reason for the season!!

Christmas Eve

Merry Christmas - we are in the preparation phase today. We are vacuuming the house, wrapping presents, making the preparations to get ready for our company (John's folks) to come up. We had our Christmas eve service and got to light candles and sing songs to prepare us for Jesus' birth. We went to someone's house to eat a FABULOUS dinner and then were surprised to get presents. Little N had a wonderful time....he liked BOTH Little N & M's present. Little N showed off his crazy moves dancing to Little M's elephant. We got home a took pictures of the boys matching sleepers (thanks Jen) - they looked SO cute!

Zion Christmas Program

I love christmas programs.....the singing & everything that goes with kids. You have little kids who sing at the top of their lungs & even if they don't know all the words continue to sing!! :-) The Christmas story is always a great message to hear every year!!

Erickson Christmas

We celebrated Christmas with John's mom's side of the family! It's always a fun time. We eat our appetizers, then we eat our main meal and then we eat our desserts and then we eat our snacks. Basically there is NO end to the eating and talking and visiting. I have decided that because one of John's Uncle's WOULD NOT cooperate with me in taking GOOD pictures that I am going to war with him. (P.S. THIS is WAR!!! You know who you are!) Merry Christmas and I'm glad that we were able to spend time with one another!!

Christmas Caroling

Zion had a Christmas Caroling party.....a bunch of people went out caroling and afterwards got together at someone's house to warm up and eat. It was lots of fun..... Caristy, Little N & M didn't go caroling but had fun eating and playing with everyone afterwards. :-)

The world of a toddler!

Sorry this post might be a little bit TOO MUCH INFORMATION for some of our readers!!

Little N is potty training. It's been going on for a while now (I have incriminating photos but they are just for me!) we started back in the summer. I wanted to do just full out naked time and thought hey perfect it's summer Little N will train and it will be over. Well Little N during the summer time didn't like the idea of naked time and had to have clothes on or a diaper on at all times. :-) We were given a little potty chair so Little N would sit on his little potty chair whenever I would use the bathroom (with his clothes on) and that was that. Then Little M came around and I was THANKFUL that I hadn't trained because Little N wanted to have the same attention as Little M. Then we went out to CT for November and Little N watched his friend Little L go the the bathroom and he decided that it was a good time to try to train. So we started going to the potty every 30 minutes and sometimes even more frequent. He slowly understood how to hold his pee......we are still in diapers but we are down from like 6 diaper in a day to about 3 diapers. We haven't figured out the poop training.....he doesn't take a long time to poop, when he has to go it's a quick deal. However he is now starting to tell me when he has to pee and he knows when he has to poop just hasn't done it consistently in the toilet. John is a little grossed out about the whole aspect of potty training. But Little N is doing pretty good. We have trainer underwear that I might pull out after the holidays and just try cold turkey.......I just don't like the idea of dealing with poop. (Sigh!!!) That's life with a toddler!

A giggling Little M

I discovered that Little M is very ticklish....forgive the wavering video but that was how I could get him on the camera and tickle him! Hopefully this makes your day.

Over at JoAnne's House

Caristy, Little N & M went over to JoAnne's house. She wanted to do a family Christmas card & visit. We went over & Little N went to take a nap. We talked & worked on trying to make unique card for her. JoAnne enjoyed cuddling with Little M and then when Little N woke up she enjoyed playing with him and explaining everything she was doing and he was equally happy with her. She made us perigoes (yummy!!) She also showed Little M the basement which a child's wonderland....full of all sorts of fun toys and stuff to play with.

A new era for Zion Church

About 41 years ago the carpet at Zion Church was installed. It's been through alot and it was looking worn and had some signs of tears. It has been through many baptisms, confirmations, wedding, funerals, etc. It saw John get installed as a pastor, it saw our two boys being baptised and today it saw it's last sermon. They started the process of ripping out the old carpet and hopefully by next Sunday there will be new carpet everywhere that the old carpet was (which is alot.....the sanctuary, the foyer, three sets of stairs, John's office, the church office & "a storage area). Little N enjoyed watching the various people tearing out the carpet. (Little M really didn't care!)
