Get out of the house Saturday

Saturday we (the little boys & I) went over to our part-time secretary's (for church) house.  They entertained my kids, fed us, played with my kids and had so many pretty & interesting things to take pictures of!  I am thankful that we could get out of the house and do something a little different then what we had been doing this week.

A special Wednesday

On Monday John left to go over to Japan to help with the relief effort over there.  So it was just me and the little boys for the week.  Wednesday was a fun day -- at 9 am a friend came over to our apartment to watch the boys.  She kicked me out of the house and I walked around the traditional market then walked around the grocery store.  I felt like I was gone 2 1/2 hours.  When I went home my friend looked at me and're back already you've only been gone for 1 1/2 hours.  It was great!! So thankful for a little time to break!   Here is the only I've taken so far this week....sorry that it's so gross!!

Easter Sunday

He is Risen!!  He is Risen indeed!!  Easter Sunday we went to church and after church went to TGI Fridays with some friends to celebrate Easter.  It seemed so strange to go to a restaurant to celebrate Easter.  We have been able to be with John's family for almost every single Easter celebration since we've been married.  I missed spending time with family.  After lunch we rushed home so we could drop off our kids so that we could go to a funeral.
About a week ago we found out that a little girl (2 1/2 years old) died suddenly.  We have no real explaination of why she died.  On Wednesday morning she was fine and by Thursday morning the sweet little girl had died.  The family decided that they would have the memorial service on Easter Sunday.
The memorial service was a sweet service but probably one of the hardest services I have been to.  The  hardest person to listen to was the Chinese Grandpa.  He was not a Christian and he was so devastated -- unsure where his granddaughter was and if she was terrified trying to navigate through afterlife.  So hard to listen to and just made me realize that lots of people believe the same way he does all over the world.  Made me realize what our responsiblity as Christians are here on earth.

Easter Egg Party

We were invited to join some of our friends to have an Easter Egg hunt & potluck meal.  We were so excited.  When we got there they were ready for us....they had Easter Eggs for us to decorate....Little N loved that -- Little M was just confused and wanted to squish the eggs (we decided not to let him near the eggs) so instead he decided to eat grapes off the vine! After decorating the eggs the kids got to decorate cookies.  Seriously our hosts definitely know how to entertain kids.  I need to remember all these tricks because I never think about different activities for the kids to do.  While the kids were decorating cookies the men were hiding the Easter Eggs outside (again our hosts thought this through because this was perfect for the guys.....what guy doesn't like hiding eggs).  The Easter Egg hunt was so much fun to watch.  Little M was completely oblivious about what he was supposed to do and was SUPER excited when he got Easter Eggs to put in his bucket.  Little N loved searching for Easter Eggs with the rest of the kids.  After the Easter egg hunt we got to play at the playground which totally made John's day...he loved chasing the kids and hiding from them. After playing we ate our potlucks...can you say homemade porgies, salads, soup & bread.  Yummy!!  It was the best food & such a fun time chatting!  Great day & party!!  Thanks so much for a great day!!

Good Friday Service

We had a Good Friday service at Victory Church.  John and our friend Jason shared the service.   At the beginning of the service we each received a blank piece of paper and a pencil.  We were told to write our most horrible of sins and then afterwards we were to fold it up and nail it to the cross.  So one by one people got up to nail their sins upon the cross.  Kind of made Jesus dying on the cross for my sins a lot more personal and not so far away.  Then our friend Jason read the Easter Story (well the part that end with Jesus being nailed to the cross).  Good Friday is the day that Satan thought he won and that he had control over the world but thankfully Jesus had other plans and rose again from the dead enabling us to have hope for eternal life with Jesus Christ.  What a wonderful message!

My first incident with a scooter!

So tonight I borrowed John's bike and rode to bible study.  I brought my ipad to use for notes & then I brought my camera incase I was running early and I could take a picture of the traffic at night.  (It's a goal one of these times to get the streakes of traffic and possibly get all the traffic light all light up.) So I had no problems getting to bible study.  But on my way back home I had no problems until I got close to the hospital.  I had a green arrow to go but half way through the crosswalk a scooter was turning right (which he's allowed to do) but then he decided to make an illegal u-turn and I happened to be in his way so he bumped me hard enough that I lost my balance and fell.  Thankfully he was able to ask if I was okay....which at the time I thought that I was but I ended up with a nice bruised knee.  But he didn't know enough English and I didn't know enough Mandarin to ask for his information in case I discovered that something bad had happened.   Plus there wasn't enough time before I became road kill to the other traffic that was about to be coming with the light changing.
Sadly I got home told John about what happened and he was furious.  Then I went and checked my camera (thankfully okay) and my Ipad (sadly it's not okay!!)  Half the screen has a nice black screen along with green, red  & blue strips running through it.  I cried.....John was even more annoyed and was "yelling" (more yelling at the scooter guy) at me in frustration which made me feel even worse and then in turned made him feel worse.  It was a sad day!!
Here is the picture I took to make sure my camera was okay!!

Hiking at Lion's Head Mountain

We went hiking and I was amazed at how well Little N & Little M did especially with it being for the most part all uphill.  Little N walked for about 3/4 of the trial which we were really impressed with how much he walked.  For the most part he held our hand and walked but every once in a while we had to carry him.  Little M walked for maybe 1/4 of the trial...he was so excited and very protective of his mommy.  As we were walking if I was behind him he would stop and wait for me till I caught up with him.  When Little M was walking usually Little N went in the backpack carrier so he could get a little break.  I loved when they walked together because Little N would grab Little M's hand and walk hand in hand.
When we stopped at the Buddhist Nunnery the ladies were so excited to see Little N & M.  They plied them with food and then as they were eating the ladies were amazed at how much Little M ate (he had a cookie, a rice cracker, candy, an orange and jello).  There was another couple who was from the same town where we currently live his profession was looking at kids and watching them, then looking at their birth date & time to tell what they will be in the future.  He gave enough information that could be true and just gave advice to us about teaching both of them to tell the truth and be polite.  I don't take much stock in what the guy said....Little N & Little M will grow up to be what they want to be and we will proud of them no matter they do.
On our way back to the car Little N was getting really tired and sore.  We felt bad because as we were going down the hill Little N kept on saying ow ow ow my legs hurt.  So I think his calf muscles had taken a beating.  When we got to the car they ate some food and then fell fast asleep.  They went to bed at 8:30 am and woke up at 9 am the next morning (the longest they had ever slept since coming to Taiwan).

Sorry for the many pictures because we had taken over 458 pictures......there was so many pretty things to look at!
Such a narrow road and I couldn't believe how the tow truck got on the road.  Thankfully we were right by a gate so we could get away from the cars.
 My Happy Sweet Little M
Bamboo when the wind blows has such a creepy sound.

The sweet ladies at the nunnary!!!
