Differences between US & Taiwan

People working on billboards & open high in the air I always feel need to wear safety harnesses and helmets in the US.  Over here in Taiwan it's not unheard of to see people up high in the sky without a helmet or safety harness.  I see it and get nervous for those people.

Monday Adventure - Train ride to Miaoli

We took our first Monday adventure in a LONG time.  Little N had two days off from school because of holidays so we decided to take a train adventure from our apartment to Miaoli train station.  We had lots of fun exploring around the city.

VEF - Game Night

We had a game night at church today.  Just getting together just to play games...we had the wii out, the ping pong table and then just some board games and card games.  We had fun learning new games which sadly I (Caristy) never won.  I guess we will just have to have another game night so that I can win a game.

Co-workers gathering

John has slowly been getting people together to have some co-workers at VEF to bounce ideas off and get ideas of how we can improve our church and get more people involved.  We got together today to play games and have a meal together...spending time together and getting to know one another.  We had fun!!

Box Fort

There is something magical about building a fort out of cardboard boxes both for kids and grown adults.  John built for the kids a fort for them to play in and they all had a blast playing inside!!  I am so thankful for a creative husband who likes to play just as much as his kids do!

Snuggle time with the boys

Little H is truly blessed to have two big brothers who absolutely adore her.  They give her kisses want to hold her and hug her.  They truly look out for her and usually end up telling me what they think is wrong with her and how I can make it better.  Today Little M was exhausted it was a long morning and right before we had to get Little N from school he fell asleep and Little H had been sitting next to Little M and I looked over and she's laying on him as he is fast asleep.  When Little N got home from school he wanted to hold and cuddle with her.  I'm very thankful that my boys love their sister.

Monday Adventure - 18 peak mountain

With Little N in school the one thing that I miss is going on adventures and exploring around our area.  It's just harder to do stuff because of him being in school.  Both boys still need their naps, so it just seems my life revolves around school and afternoon nap. Today we decided to forgo afternoon nap and go on a walk to see the cherry blossoms.  It was so much fun and we all had a blast!  Thankful for our mini adventure.

Going to the Chapel....

Sorry lame title but I couldn't think of anything else.

John got to be a part of his first wedding in Taiwan.  Our friends got married & asked John to have some part in the ceremony.  It was an interesting first wedding in Taiwan and they don't really do the wedding the same as they do in the states. Weddings here are big business like in the states.  The groom has to buy a suit but the bride actually rents her dresses. Which in a way makes sense...a guy will wear a suit more often that the girl will wear her wedding dress.

Little N decided that both he & Little M had to wear a dressy vest & a tie like daddy. Little N remembered being in Tante Lexi's wedding & was excited to go to a wedding. It was a nice wedding & a fun reception.  Thankful we could be a part of it.

Happy Birthday Mark

Today was our friend's birthday and we went out to celebrate his birthday at TGI Fridays.  We got there a little late because the kids slept so long and because of where our new apartment is we just decided to walk there and it took us a little bit longer because I was a little bit scatter brained and couldn't find something.  If you know John he hates being late and so it really frustrated him that we were running late.  Thankfully we weren't too late.  It was fun getting together and celebrating with him on his birthday.  They (TGI Fridays) supplied us with funny hats to wear while they sang to Mark.  It was a good way to end a long day!!

Welcome to our blog! We try to keep this current for family and friends. We moved to Taiwan in February 2011 and are trying to keep in contact with loved ones through this blog. We love comments and will respond back if you have questions or comments!! Thanks for checking us out!!
