Visiting with Joanne

I always love going over to Joanne's house.....she has such a unique personality and place.  Everywhere you look you can find some unique and fun thing to look at and take a picture of.  She is very artistic and is so creative.  She has converted her barn to be a place where she can host events and do a variety of things with it.  During the fall and winter she uses it as a retreat for her hunters that come and stay with her.  In the past she has done a photography gallery, a pottery lesson, a music show and a variety of other things.  She also has kittens and Little N enjoyed holding them and watching them scamper and play! Here's one that posed ever so cutely!

A busy day

It was a busy busy day for the Olson family....okay maybe not so busy! We had bathtime fun, dressed up in costumes -- went around to a couple of business and got candy, took a nap & then went over to church for our annual Harvest Festival.....which was so much fun - eating food, bidding on items and then watching husbands bid on things that their wives brought to sell.  It was a great day!!

We have snow the ground.  Yesterday was a crazy day....I got a sub job (which is usually great) however John was away for 1/2 the week at a seminar so I had no child care.  (John usually takes care of the kids if I get a job) So I needed to take the job (well it makes for more sub jobs if I do accept and say I will teach) so I frantically racked my brain trying to figure out who would be able to take care of my kids, where I wouldn't have to drop them off because I didn't have a car to transport them.  Thankfully I thought of someone who would be able to watch the kids and she was sweet enough that she let me borrow her car to get to work and as a bonus she watched my two kids at my house for free.  (She was very sweet and I am so blessed to know her and her daughter!) My school day went fine (minus some issues that I had to deal with three kiddos......but we made it through!)  Went home to my kiddos and started to get nervous because my house was cold and we were supposed to get 6 to 8 inches of snow.  UGH......thankfully John had also heard the reports and decided that he didn't want to risk being stuck when he had to be back on Wednesday for confirmation and church stuff.  So he got back home and was able to tell me that I had started the fire just fine and that because it was so cold that's why it was taking so long for the house to warm up.  I'm thankful that John is normally in charge of the wood stove because he's so good at that! :-)  I woke up to snow on the ground and in the area.  We are under a blizzard warning for two more hours hopefully our snow doesn't stick around for Halloween.....I would like to pull my kids around in their wagon to go trick or treating!  I guess we shall see!

Little N reading

So I get an e-mail like once a month or sometime more often telling me what is up with Little N.....and this week it was.....preschoolers are primed for reading so read to them.  Well I don't have a problem with worrying that Little N isn't on track....he's always asking John or I to read him a story....sometimes when we are in the middle of something that needs to be done at that secondso we aren't able to read to him then but he loves his books....he's been actually remembering some of the stories that we read and just randomly quoting them which is very cute! :-) He has also decided that instead of his adorable smile that he gives naturally that now he has to give this cheesy (corny) annoying smile....he'll tell me....."Mommy, I have to smile now.....okay mommy....take my picture!" UGH!!!  I hate those types of smiles!!

Senior & Parent Appreciation Game

We went to the last home game of the season for girls volleyball.  It also happened to be Senior & Parent Appreciation night for every sport (cross country & volleyball).  It was an emotional time watching everyone. But it was again an exciting game....the Cougars did SO well!!

Payback -- Little M style

So Little N wanted to play hide and seek.  So he ran to the laundry basket and "hid" from daddy.  Well Little M thought it was the perfect thing to sit on so he crawled over to it and climbed on top of it trapping Little N for a good 10 minutes while I took pictures of it and called John over to laugh at this funny thing!

Mommy, Mommy -- M wants to hide!!  Mommy, Mommy -- we want to scary you!!  Peek-a-boo Mommy.  Those are the words I hear often through out the day!  But who can resist these sweet faces?

Robin & Casey's Wedding

It was a GORGEOUS and unusually warm day for October. 82 degrees, bright beautiful skies and just a wonderful day for a wedding. Robin (John's cousin) got married today. It was such a fun wedding to attend especially being so close to my sister's wedding (I had wedding fever!) and I got to take pictures to my hearts delight....though I should have stuck with my gut and gotten there earlier to watch and watch -- but with two little boys who desparately needed a nap that just didn't happen. I loved how personal Robin & Casey's wedding was.....they had her cousins riding in a wagon down the aisle which was absolutely adorable and gave flowers and spent a little time during their ceremony with their parents. Afterwards we got to eat good food and delicious cake. We also got to take home some amazing carmel apples dipped in yummy deliciousness. Congratulations Robin & Casey!! Welcome to the family Casey! :-)
8 grandchildren together with their grandparents!

Delicious apple how I want to eat you!!!

G & S

We drove down to Fargo the day before Robin's wedding to spend sometime with family.  We got to see Ole & Kim and their adorable kids G & S.  We also got to spend time with Rachel's kids.  So we got to see all our nieces and nephews.  Little N was so excited to play with his cousins and Little M loved playing with G.

GCC Annual Cookie Run

Every year Cooperstown Bible camp hosts the annual Cross Country Cookie run.  All over the area teams compete for of course who can run the fastest but everyone gets a cookie after they finish the race.  Honestly I'm not sure I would even make it back to get the cookie but everyone finishes and it's a great time.  Little N found the playground at bible camp and so we had to go over there for a while to play!

Happy Birthday Mom - Grandma

Today is my mom's birthday!  We are finally home from being out East and our journey back through was kind of sad that we weren't able to stick around for my mom's birthday but life doesn't always work the way you want it too.  Little N was very excited to talk to Grandma and tell her happy birthday.  He even put stickers on his face just for her special day (okay maybe that's too much of a stretch!)

Playing around Lake Superior

Way back before I had my Canon.....we went to Lake Superior, we went hiking and camping. It was beautiful and we got some gorgeous pictures with my old camera. Well we haven't been back through Lake Superior since we moved to Cooperstown. We also wanted to go do some hiking and exploring around the area....get Little N and Little M excited about hiking and just being out in nature. So we hiked and saw some waterfalls, we went to see Split Rock Lighthouse, and Gooseberry falls. We stopped where there were tons of rocks (can't remember the to come and you can name where we stopped) but Little M loved to pick up the rocks and throw them into the water. He was so happy!! Everyone had a blast either hiking, exploring or taking pictures! I took over 100 pictures in one day and have learned that I need to get a filter for my lens to block out the sun. Lots of pictures were just not as memorable as what I remembered it being!
Welcome to our blog! We try to keep this current for family and friends. We moved to Taiwan in February 2011 and are trying to keep in contact with loved ones through this blog. We love comments and will respond back if you have questions or comments!! Thanks for checking us out!!
