A beach day

After picking Little N from school we decided to go to the beach.  This might be a never ending theme on this blog for the next coming months, sorry!  We haven't found many sandy beaches in Taiwan and most people don't use them except to fish or go crabbing.  They don't necessarily go to the beach to go build sandcastles and dig holes.  As a result the beaches here aren't always the cleanest find all sorts of things, mannequin heads, bottles, styrofoam, etc.
We still like coming to the beach because you by the water so you get a breeze which helps with the high humidity (at least in Caristy's mind) and you can be outside enjoying the outdoors without complaining about the hot weather.  When it gets to warm you walk into the ocean really quick to cool off.  We enjoy coming to the beach so much so that we bought a beach tent, those half covered tents, so that we can have Little H protected from the sun and sand. We are enjoying the beach and even our new little friends that we find as we dig our holes.
Little N has a new hair do because on Saturday he decided to cut his own hair. Cutting it pretty short was the only  way to fix his hair.
John proud that he found his "friend".

World Vision Taiwan - Lively Taiwan, Happy Family Walk-a-thon

Our Church (Victory Lutheran Brethren church), not just the VEF, joined a bunch of other churches to celebrate and bring awareness about how important family is.  Taiwan has one of the highest rates for divorce and doesn't have the best view on family.  So our church joined other churches along with World Vision Taiwan to do a walk-a-thon to help raise awareness about the importance of family.
It can be hard trying to find ways to join together with the whole church with us not being able to speak Chinese, this was one way that we could work together. We walked in the pouring rain along with hundreds of other people - handing out fliers and explaining what we were doing, singing songs and being united together.  Today was important day because it was International Family Day and so walking around with other families and just sharing Christ love and not being afraid of a little rain showed that we were united in sharing how important family is.

Monday Adventure - A day at the Beach!

We took Little N out of school because John has been working the last two Saturdays.  We went to the same beach that we went on to on Friday.  The boys enjoyed digging a hole and playing in the sand.  We enjoyed the sun, the sand and the water.  The thing that creeped us out was a mannequin head that John found in the sand.  What is it with boys and digging holes in the sand?   What makes that so fun?
The creepy mannequin head, who just leaves a head in the sand?
What's more fun then digging a hole in the sand?
 Building sand castles?
 Jumping in holes!

A sandy beach

John goes on bike rides with another guy and as they were riding around they found a sandy beach, which we have no found many of.  He decided to take us all to the beach to check it out.  While we were there it was low tide and it took forever to get to the water.  What was fun and interesting was the way that the crabs crawled out from their homes in the sand.  We saw little round balls all around the beach which the crabs had made as they were digging their way out of the sand.  The boys had a blast playing in the sand and the water, they weren't really a fan of the ocean but really liked the water that got left when the tide went out.  While we were there two guys rode by on horseback.  We still aren't exactly sure how they go there.
 The crab ball design!
I love that you can see their reflection in the water and you can actually see the colors too.
 Throwing mud into the ocean!

A special Sunday

Today was the second Sunday off baptisms.  Last week we had 6 students who wanted to be baptized and this week we had 5 students who wanted to be baptized and 1 who wanted to public announce that he was confirming his baptism.
It was an emotional day...not because of the baptism but what it meant.  These students were making the chose to follow Christ.  Please join me in praying for these students that as they live their lives that they would be a witness to all that they encounter.  Pray that they would listen to the Holy Spirit and follow Christ all their lives.  As they live their life that they would be develop into strong mature Christians who believe in the bible and have hidden the scripture in their hearts so that they always have the truth to share with others. Thank you!

Easter Egg Potluck

We got together with our friends for an Easter Egg Potluck.  We were able to decorate Easter eggs,  Easter bags and then go on an Easter Egg Hunt.  We were thankful to be able to hang out and spend time with our friends.

Fruit - Pepino

We went for a walk at 18 peak mountain and found this fruit which we found interesting.  It was a semi sweet fruit. We weren't really a fan of this fruit.
