English Playgroup - Good bye to some dear friends

We said good bye to a family in our playgroup.  They are moving from Taiwan to the US.  We will miss them dearly but are hoping that they adjust and do well in America.  Playgroup was at the church with food and lots of space to run around for the kids to play.

VEF - A baptism

It's amazing to hear stories of how people come to know the Lord.  One of the people who attends our church is an Indian from India.  She grew up in a Hindu family and when she heard about God, she made the decision to become a Christian and asked John if he would be willing to baptize her.  He baptized her today and she was able to share a part of her story with our congregation.  Praying for her as she learns more about God, and the bible.  I pray that she would be excited and learn a lot about what the Lord has in store for her life.

Miaoli - International Arts Festival

We were invited this today to go to the International Arts Festival with friends.  What we were told was that there was rides for the kids and there would be fireworks that we could watch later on in the evening.  When we got to Miaoli County and the area that the fireworks were at we noticed that it was basically a huge carnival like atmosphere   We took the kids on the Ferris Wheel (which took about an hour of waiting in a line) and then we let the kids ride on the trains as many times as they wanted to.  They had a blast playing with their friends.  When it was dark enough we watched them shoot off fireworks.  It was an awesome day and just a very fun experience.
This is what we saw as soon as we got into the area.  The first thing the boys wanted to go on was the Ferris Wheel.  Sadly this ride you stood in line longer than you were actually on the ride.  You only went around once before you were let off.
The picture of the people circling around is the back of the line for the Ferris wheel.  It was crazy how long the line was.  There was not much of a line for the train ride though so the kids went on that some!
Little N loves to be able to hold his sister and snuggle with her.
I had SO much fun taking this picture.  I put the camera on a tripod and then put a high f stop and a slow shutter speed.  I love how it looks like it is going so fast when it really wasn't!
I love this picture too of the fireworks.  I will definitely go back to this International Arts Festival if it is close to us so that I can have more fun talking pictures of fireworks and different carnival type equipment.

So thankful for Stephanie

It's been over a year since Stephanie has been helping us out by watching our kids.  They love her and it's just a nice time to be together John and I.  Sometimes we use it for a date afternoon, and sometimes we use it to go shopping.  I think Stephanie really likes being able to snuggle with Little H.  They have a very special relationship.

Harvest Party

With our bible study we got together for a Harvest party.  All the kids dressed up and then we went over to our friends house to play.  I didn't see my boys that often until it was time to leave, they love playing with their friends toys.  Little N (no picture) was a pirate, Little M (no picture) was a lion and Little H was a cute little lady bug.  We had all sorts of fun playing games, watching the kids play together, carving a pumpkin, watching the men cheat as they played pin the nose on the jack-o-lantern.  So thankful for a great bunch of people whom we can spend time with laughing, and hanging out with.
We had a house full of mostly fairy princesses.
This is how the men cheated....feeling along the wall and then the paper to the middle.  At least they had fun.
Little H as the cute little ladybug.

Last day at the beach

It seems so strange to write that title because of two things - one in the places we leaved in America we would have been done with swimming at the beach back in the beginning of September and the second reason is that it's still so warm in Taiwan so it's possible we could go back and swim.  But we had fun with friends going to the beach.  We of course dug a hole in the beach and then tried to create a mote to try and save our water fun.  We had so much fun jumping in the water, running in the sand and eating the sand (wait you aren't supposed to eat the sand.).  Winter in Taiwan will be coming soon.  Sure doesn't feel like it right now but it will be.
We had a little boy join our kids playing in the sand and water. We have not seen many kids playing in the water besides the western kids at least where we have gone swimming.

A time exploring with friends!

We got together with friends today to feed the ducks and then just explore around one of the colleges.  The kids had a blast riding bikes and playing with their friends.  The little girls are very much in love with Little H. So I think it will be fun (hopefully) to have older friends that Little H can play with and spend time with.

 Playing is such hard work!

We are so blessed to have a wonderful group of people whom we get together every Sunday for a time of Bible study and fellowship.  Knowing that we have these people who are in our lives and care about our family makes life just a little bit easier.  This week we enjoyed a little bible trivia, games and just an enjoyable time with one another.  Just so thankful for everyone!!

Family Adventure - Yeliu, Taiwan

We took a surprise trip up to Yeliu, Taiwan.  It was a much needed trip - spending time as a family, being around nature and taking pictures.  I took over 700 pictures in Yeliu and it was so much fun.  The kids had a blast running around and I had a blast taking pictures of the water.
Lots of people fishing or looking in the sea for various sea creatures.
Beautiful things that we found on our walk!
It was such an amazing day!  So thankful for the time to spend with family and exploring Taiwan.

Little H is 9 months

Little H is now 9 months.  She's getting so big...she likes to sit up by herself, a great little eater, and loves her brothers.  She is trying to pull herself up on everything and anything. She is slowly going from the army crawl to the regular baby crawl.  She's my little sweetie!  I love her.
I love her little toes.
I love her little smiles and she is so sweet.
Silly faces of my sweet little one.
My goofy little guy!

Flying Cow Ranch - Double 10 Day

Today was a holiday in Taiwan.  Little N's school decided to do a school event with all the families and students.  We went to the Flying Cow Ranch.  It was pretty amazing we had 16 buses that took us from Little N's school to the ranch.  We weren't exactly sure what we were going to expect when we arrived there but it was a really nice place.  It was what we would consider a little hobby ranch - they raised goats, cows, chickens, sheep, etc.  Plus they had lots of green grass that you could have a picnic, run and play games or just relax on.  We enjoyed out time there.  They also had DIY (Do it yourself) stuff which we had signed our kids up for but as we were walking and exploring we lost track of time so we missed our schedule time.  The nice thing about the Flying Cow Ranch is there was some areas where you could go camping, you could stay in a hotel and just enjoy the nature and feel like you were out of the city.  I definitely see our family coming back here.
We had activities to do while we were on the bus, singing songs (to get a special treat) and listening to songs!   The kids had fun playing on the grass thankfully not that many grass stains on their clothes.
The top two pictures were of Little N's classmates who were able to go on the trip.  We enjoyed the time at the ranch but just found it ironic at times that people would pay to come to a ranch to pay to see the cows, the horses, the sheep, the chickens and rabbits, etc.  When we were in Cooperstown we were able to see these type animals for free when we drove in the country side or visited our friends.  The boys had a blast feeding the animals though.
Little M had a little friend that just wanted to pick him up all the time for Little N's class.  Her mom is Japanese and so she speaks Japanese and Mandarin.  So it was fun for John to speak a little Japanese to her and for her to respond.  We enjoyed the butterfly garden and there were so many wonderful things to look at!
Hopefully we can come back again someday. We had fun!

English Playgroup

It was a busy, busy day!  A friend called me up and asked me if I could watch their son for the day, so they could pack up and get ready to move.  So I was very honored to watch their son for the day....made me realize that I'm not sure I could handle having kids 5,3, 10 months and 8 months.  It was a fun day but a very busy day!
Welcome to our blog! We try to keep this current for family and friends. We moved to Taiwan in February 2011 and are trying to keep in contact with loved ones through this blog. We love comments and will respond back if you have questions or comments!! Thanks for checking us out!!
