Beach Fun

We took some friends to show our "beach" and have some fun in the sun and sand.  We had a blast the water was so warm that the kids kept wanting to play in the water.  Little N and M decided that the ocean water isn't that scary and wanted to play in water with their friends.

English Playgroup - My place

We had playgroup today.  We had the group come to my house and it was so much fun.  The kids got to play on the playground and then reading books up in our apartment.
Waiting for our friends to come and playing with the camera!
Little M is good at sharing and is very good with the little kids.
Little N and S reading together!

A day at the beach

I like having the freedom to do what we want, like go to the beach on a beautiful sunny day.  A fun day playing in the sand, playing with bubbles and going in the water.
Little H will sometimes take a pacifier but usually only at night time...usually she grabs her two fingers to suck on like this.

Everything goes in the mouth

The boys are really good with Little H.  If she goes near something she isn't supposed to be near they take it away from her or they let me know.  Lately (well not really) she has been really oral wanting to put everything and anything in her mouth.  So all of a sudden I look up and see that Little N has her finger in his mouth (Little H is just giggling about it too) and then Little H has his finger in her mouth.  It was just funny because they were just laughing at one another.
Little M also needed to have his picture taken so he gave us a silly face!

Dragon Boat Festival

Today is the Dragon Boat celebration. We finally went and watched what goes on for the dragon boat races.  Last year we didn't go, I think because John had just gotten back from American and just wasn't up for the crowds and chaos.
The boys enjoy running on the "waves" and watching the kites in the air.
The Dragon boat Festival is a holiday.  It's a very festive time where people get together and eat Zongzi (rice dumpling - can either be savory or sweet, wrapped in bamboo leaves) and also race dragon boats.  What people told me last year was that in China there was a poet who was said to have committed some sort of treason and so went to a river and drowned himself.  The people of the village respect this man so they threw the Zongzi in the water so the fish would eat that instead of the poet.  Then the people of the village raced to get to the man which is how the dragon boat races came about.  This is just what I was told and I just listen to what people tell me.  If I have it wrong someone please tell me and I'll correct it!
In this race two boats would race one another -- going only one way and then getting a rice back via a motorboat dragging them back.
I was snapping pictures and these two guys saw me and decided to pose for me!  I loved it and thought it was so neat that they would just pose for me.
There was a guy leaning on the dragon's head, someone playing the drums and then many people who paddled and one who steered.  It was very interesting to watch.

My boys

When I take pictures of Little H usually the boys want to be a part of the pictures too or they want their own pictures taken.  Today when I took Little H's pictures only Little M was around so of course we had to take his picture and he wouldn't give me a good picture only silly, goofy shots!
One of Little N's teachers told me today that she was no longer going to be here next year, which made me burst into tears because I wasn't expecting to hear that news.  Also she is a great teacher and Little N really likes her.  So in the afternoon when I picked up Little N, we quick took some pictures.  I'm going to miss her.

5 Months

Little H is 5 months.  She is 12 lbs and 24.41 inches long.  She is a smiley little girl and a joy to be around.  She likes to roll over and move around.  She is my little cuddle bug and charms everyone she encounters.

A belated Father's Day

It's never easy to have celebrations on Sunday. It's even harder to do something in honor of John on a Sunday because he is usually so busy.  It also makes it that much harder when the kids aren't feeling the best and we miss church.  So we made up for a not so good Father's day by taking a walk after Little N was done with school.  We went on an adventure to find a new park, which we never found, and the frozen yogurt place from our house. It wasn't that bad of a walk it was just really warm.  Which made the frozen yogurt taste even better.
Stopping for a quick exercise break!
Waiting for Mommy to catch up.
Enjoying our frozen yogurt.  We all were a little warm so we all looked a little sweaty and hot.  I love that Little H is totally eye-balling my frozen yogurt!  Nope, she didn't get a bite!
Happy Father's day to some terrific fathers!!  I am thankful to John for being a great dad to our kids.  For spending time with them - digging holes, going on walks or rides in the car, for playing with trains and legos and just showing them that they are important.  I am thankful for my dad and for John's dad!  They are amazing men and I'm so thankful that they are in our lives. Thank you so much for all you guys do!  We love you!   Happy Father's Day!!

Wednesday Sing & Dance time

Every Wednesday at Little N's school is uniform day.  Sometimes they go on field trip or on some sort of trip so they all have to wear there uniform.  Also on Wednesday is music and dancing time. The kids line by their classes and the teachers all dance and sing songs for the kids to follow along to.  Little N isn't a fan of the music and dancing time, mostly because he didn't know the songs or the moves to the dances.

I was so proud of him because he was willing to try to sing along with the rest of the kids and do the movements!  He has grown so much in these last 5 months.  He's willing to try different types of foods, he tries to sing and dance to his Chinese songs and he is teaching me Chinese.
Can you find the two "foreigners" in the crowd of kids!
