The seventh day of Advent
This morning we discovered that the Cat in the Hat had climbed into the Christmas tree to look at the ornaments and lights. The kids decided that tonight we would tie up Cat in the Hat to a chair to make sure that he didn't get out and get into mischief. We will see if that prevents Cat in the Hat from getting into trouble.
Our activity for the 7th day of Advent was melting our broken crayons into new crayons. So I let the kids put the crayons in the star shape silicone baking sheet and then we heated them up in the oven at 250 degrees F for about 10 minutes took them out of the oven to cool a little bit and then once they cooled to a soft set I put them in the freezer for about 5 minutes until they were cool. Then we popped them out of the molds and the boys used them for coloring. They were very excited about this project and I think we will do it again. The only thing I will do differently is buy a deeper set silicone baking sheet. We will probably try to do this again and make Christmas presents for the boys' friends.
Step 1 - Break the crayons and place them into the molds.
Step 2: Preheat the oven to 250 F and then bake for 10 minutes. Try to avoid tipping them as you take them out otherwise you get some spilled crayon on the top.
Step 3 - Let them cool on the counter and if you are truly impatient like I was put in the freezer for 5 minutes to cool.
Step 4 - Pop them out of the molds and start coloring with them. Have fun with different colors and see what happens when you combine different colored crayons together.
The Scripture Verse for today is Micah 5:4-5 – He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord in the majesty of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for them his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace.
This morning this is how we found The Cat in the Hat.
This is how the Cat in the Hat went to bed. We will see if he stays tied up in the chair or if he gets free.

(Little M was very interested in today's bible verse because of the scripture reference. He was all giddy and excited when we read it.)
